Condensate Drain Problems
When an air conditioner is properly cooling your home or office, there will be a lot of condensation that forms in the outdoor unit. This humidity extraction is a key part of your cooling system, and the water that forms from this process needs to have somewhere to go. The condensate drain system of your AC is designed to carry water away from the unit, but if a problem develops, it could be critically damaging to your cooling system. Leaks and other issues can cause a buildup of condensation inside the air conditioning unit, and could eventually lead to complete system shutdown.
At Quamec in Miami, we’ve seen clogged condensate drains, leaky drains, and drains where algae has formed. If the drain is clogged, the water has nowhere to go, and that provides the perfect breeding ground for mold and algae. If your unit has an overflow sensor, the system will shut off if there is a backup of water. This means your AC isn’t running during those hot Miami days, which is something nobody wants. If the drain is leaking, and the overflow pan isn’t properly aligned, water can run onto your property and potentially back towards your foundation, which creates an entirely new problem.
If you’ve detected drainage problems with your residential or commercial air conditioning unit, contact Quamec right away. We’ll check every part and line in your AC, and recommend the necessary repairs to get your system running properly once again. We’ll fix any leak and replace any part, so that you can have peace of mind.
