AC Refrigerant Leak
It’s fairly common knowledge that air conditioning would not be possible without refrigerant. With this liquid inside the coils of the AC, indoor air can be cooled and dehumidified, making your Miami summers much more enjoyable. At Quamec, we’ve seen all types of refrigerant leaks and of course with little or no refrigerant in your cooling system, it won’t work properly! Adding more refrigerant or recharging the existing liquid will be ineffective until the leak is repaired.
If you have an older cooling system, chances are that it contains R-22 refrigerant, also known as Freon. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has mandated that all systems that use R-22 be phased out, if your AC has a refrigerant leak, it might be the best time to replace and update your system. The Quamec team can fix any leak and prepare your AC for R-410A refrigerant, a new chlorine-free liquid that the EPA has recognized as completely safe. There are also other alternative refrigerant options, and we’ll make sure that the new refrigerant is charged exactly to the AC manufacturer’s specifications. R-410A cannot be placed into a system that uses R-22, so an overhaul will most likely be your best option. Under- or overcharging your cool system can lead to decreased efficiency, and we want to help keep your energy bills as low as possible.
Air conditioner refrigerant leaks are not only bad for your cooling system, they can be damaging to the environment. If you’ve detected a leak, it’s important to call Quamec right away. We can provide emergency repair on short notice, or completely overhaul your system and remove any worry of future problems.
